Strategic planning is often performed annually. The outcome is a tangible outline of high level strategies and SMART goals at an organizational high level, department level and ultimately individual performance level. It also includes a series of tactics to accomplish those goals and objectives. This creates a clear line of sight strategy. The emphasis used in Phillip’s approach is on maintaining a balanced approach and establishing accountability beyond planning. Areas of focus can include market position, operational effectiveness, innovative approaches, customer growth and employee engagement.
Strategic planning is a process to produce innovative and creative ideas which serve as the core framework for the company and designing its’ future. It involves a series of deliberate activities and exercises designed to brainstorm and engage critical and creative thinking.
It is essential the plan includes input from all levels and departments within your organization. There are a series of preparation activities designed to collect such input. This will ensure greater buy-in and creating a more effective plan that is relevant.
The strategic plan will ultimately support your Vision, Mission and Core Values. It is critical to revisit these each year. Some organizations find they either do not have these in place, or they are out of touch. These will be addressed early as part of the planning process.
A series of discovery activities will occur first to create awareness and activate both sides of the brain. This will encourage innovation and receptiveness to new ideas and fresh perspectives. Understanding of mental models will be identified so these and other barriers can be recognized and quickly moved aside. Education on specific techniques will encourage a systems thinking approach. These techniques can become part of your culture and guide ongoing decision making.

This can be achieved through a variety of analysis techniques which include performing management and employee focus groups, completing market research, employee engagement surveys, etc.

We help you create and/or evaluate your vision (why are you doing this), mission (how will you achieve this) and your core values (who are you-culture). These create clarity, alignment and include input from all corners of your organization to maximize creativity and shared ownership. Outline balanced objectives and goals:
Holistic Balance
We often achieve what it is we measure. Are we measuring the right things? This strategic planning will foster intense debates and discussions; to identify certain desired outcomes (increased revenue, improved margins, higher ROI) will result from a given set of initiatives with a balanced and holistic approach in the form of a balanced scorecard. We identify the balanced “four corners” together then success measures and aligned SMART goals.

We will establish a formal review calendar for you to review progress and refine components as necessary.
